On March 9, 1945 the United States had a new attack on Japan. The US dropped 2,000 bombs on Japan and Tokyo was set on fire. This was reffered as the firebombing. Most of Tokyo was burnt to the ground. 80,000 civilians and soldiers were killed during this air raid. This was a massve attack and probably no one really new about because of the nuclear bomb. The head of the attack was General James Harold Doolittle. This bombraid was with the B-29 aircraft. The immediate effects were over 50% of the japanese factories were destroied.
I think this event was catastrophic to the Japanese but helpped us. The Japanese lost all their industrial plants. This helpped us out because this most likely got of surrendering on their mind. This event isn't well known because the nuclear bomb that was dropped out matched this event. I hope you all remember this event because if you here the nuclear bomb was the biggest event in that war they're wrong. This also was a big event.
