Students Reactions to Bus Crash Praised by Mike M. and Jake M.
On Wednesday March, 2012; New Lexington, Pa. a Pepsi truck collided with a school bus. The truck driver died on the scene. The bus was caring 10th, 11th and 12th graders from the Turkey Foot Valley School District. They were all Vo-tech Students on the bus. Right after the crash there were kids that were hurt. The kids without injuries helped all the injured people. The students that helped out were praised by the state police. Seventeen students were seen at Summerset hospital two adults and three students were seen at Conemaugh Memorial Hospital. The two adults were the bus driver and the Ade. Another student named Nikki Rugg was life-flighted to Children’s Hospital. The most severely injured student was a 10th grader named Cody King he suffered a 5-inch gash to his head, a possible broken nose, and his teeth had gone through his upper lip. He lost a lot of blood and had to get a blood transfusion. Cody was sitting right behind the bus driver. The state police think that the Pepsi truck turned into the other lane and hit the school bus. Most students hopped right out the back of the bus after the accident, just like we practice on our bus evacuation drill.
