In BadlandI, Afghanistan an American marine kills 16 Afghan civilians. Among the dead there were 9 children and three women. President Obama phoned the afghan president to offer his condolences. He asked the Afghan president to express his shock and sadness to him. Barack Obama vowed “to get facts as quickly as possible and hold all responsible accountable for the incident”. The tensions have been lowering as of Friday when the two governments signed a memorandum of understanding.
The attack started at 3:00am four were wounded 12 dead all killed were children and women. It made it so it looks like he was targeting these victims. The people of Afghanistan were in outrage during the following days. One villager stated 11 killed were family to him all women and children. Another report said when it was happening in the middle of the night he heard gun shots it got quiet and he heard gun shots again. The village was about 1500 feet (500 yards) from the base. So it seemed he made an effort to kill the Afghan citizens.
Our thoughts on the massacre are that he did kill intentionally. He was too far to be taking a walk and to close to be on a mission. The base was about 500 yards away out of distance of the view of the base. The only thing that makes us pity him is he may have had P.T.S.D. (post traumatic stress disorder). He had served in Iraq and saw many bloody deaths. That is why they lawyers think his punishment is not going to be as severe as it would if it happened to someone else. We think this will make the other forces be weary of our military. And possibly give us an unfortunate look of brutality that may help us win this war.
