Two years ago, Bruce Beresford-Redman was accused of murdering his wife, Monica Beresford-Redman. Bruce told police that his wife vanished Monday from the luxurious Moon Palace resort where they were staying. He was later arrested that Thursday morning. Bruce said he was aiding in the search for his lover. The woman’s family filed a missing persons report with the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department. They believed it had something to do with foul play. Her family could not understand why she went missing. Media reports in Mexico said that Monica Beresford-Redman had been strangled. He will stand trial in Mexico. He has decided not to appeal a recent Los Angeles federal court ruling that uphold his extradition to Cancun, Mexico. Her body was found 3 days after her disappearance stuffed in a sewer not far from the couple’s room at the resort. The cause of the death was ruled to be asphyxiation. A witness at the hotel claims he saw the couple arguing on the day before Monica went missing. Their children are now living with their grandma. THE TRIAL If convicted of aggravated homicide, he faces 12 to 30 years in Mexican prison. The whole murder was convicted on a Thursday in April of 2010. He is currently in jail waiting for the trial to be over. Bruce is only allowed to leave his 6x 12 cell. His trial has already begun. According to the Mexican legal system, Bruce had exactly 6 days to hear the charges against him and to challenge both witnesses and evidence. The judge ruled there was sufficient evidence for Beresford-Redman to stand trial for the murder of his wife. OUR OPINOIN We feel that this trial was important because we just got done learning about how trials work. All the procedures this trial went through we learned and knew what was going on. the procedures that were #1- 8 but right now he is on step 7 with the trail. The trial was interesting and somewhat recent. Jess and Bri thinks he is guilty but Lexi thinks he is innocent.
