Indiana Toddler Found in Field After Tornado Dies

By: Paige M. and Olivia L.

Fourteen-month-old Angel Babcock of New Pekin, Indiana was found in a field after violent tornadoes tore through the Midwest and South on Friday. The tornado destroyed the one year old's family's mobile home. Angel's father, mother, two-month-old sister, and two year old brother were killed during the tornado. Angel suffered multiple head and neck injuries. Angel was in critical condition at Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Seeing her suffering, her family decided to take her off of life support and she died on Sunday.

Angel's death has brought the death toll of the tornado to 39 people. Her grandfather says the family is thankful for the thoughts and prayers they have received and is looking to God.

Angel and her family's death are a tragedy. Many death's like these happen frequently throughout the Midwest every year. Natural disasters like tornadoes cause innocent people to die tragically. We think this event was important because it stresses the need for more improved tornado warnings and immediate reaction by residents who live in tornado areas.
